High-Order Terms in the Asymptotic Expansions of the Steady-State Voltage Potentials in the Presence of Conductivity Inhomogeneities of Small Diameter

چکیده
We derive high-order terms in the asymptotic expansions of the steadystate voltage potentials in the presence of a finite number of diametrically small inhomogeneities with conductivities different from the background conductivity. Our derivation is rigorous, and based on layer potential techniques. The asymptotic expansions in this paper are valid for inhomogeneities with Lipschitz boundaries and those with extreme conductivities. Mathematics subject classification (MSC2000): 35B30

Asymptotic formuli for steady state voltage potentials in the presence of conductivity imperfections of small area
We derive asymptotic formuli for two dimensional steady state voltage potentials associated with thin, “curve-like” conductivity imperfections. Our derivation is formal, and based on asymptotic matching of terms in an appropriate set of integral equations. In combination with the formuli (rigorously) derived in [3] for imperfections of small diameter, these new formuli cover the generic imperfe...
متن کاملConductivity Interface Problems. Part I: Small Perturbations of an Interface
We derive high-order terms in the asymptotic expansions of the boundary perturbations of steady-state voltage potentials resulting from small perturbations of the shape of a conductivity inclusion with C2-boundary. Our derivation is rigorous and based on layer potential techniques. The asymptotic expansion in this paper is valid for C1-perturbations and inclusions with extreme conductivities. I...
متن کاملTransient Natural Convection Flow on an Isothermal Vertical Wall at High Prandtl Numbers: Second-Order Approximation
The method of matched asymptotic expansions, which has been used in previous studies of steady natural convection flow, is extended here to transient natural convection flow at high Prandtl number (Pr). Second-order expansion solutions, valid for large Prandtl numbers, are presented for the transient natural convection flow near a vertical surface which undergoes a step change in temperature. T...
متن کاملPull-in behavior analysis of vibrating functionally graded micro-cantilevers under suddenly DC voltage
The present research attempts to explain dynamic pull-in instability of functionally graded micro-cantilevers actuated by step DC voltage while the fringing-field effect is taken into account in the vibrational equation of motion. By employing modern asymptotic approach namely Homotopy Perturbation Method with an auxiliary term, high-order frequency-amplitude relation is obtained, then the infl...
